Cole Barash

I want to give a shout out to Cole Barash and his remodeled web site, colebarash.com. His art is most inspiring, bridging from action photography seamlessly into fine arts. Hats off.

Wallowas up and up.

After a stormy few days and an unstable snow pack we were finally able to gain the ridge to top. It gave us many vertical feet back to the car, which is far below down the fall line.

Massive Avalanche at Mount Hood Meadows

A massive event slide into Heather Canyon. It released on its own early in the morning of March 11th. It is hard to visualize the size of it from the crown, but the fact that it slid to bare ice over a half-mile wide swath gives you an indication of the amount of energy released.

The flow of powder and rock hard snow chunks slid right past Heather Canyon Lift.

The tongue of the avalanche went into the narrows filling the valley with at least 30 feet of snow.

When compared to a human the slide could be mistaken for a glacier.

Smooth Like Kazu

The winner of the 2010 Open in the pipe goes with such amplitude that it slows the jump and looks easy. His tricks spin slowly pulling a double back 540. His shadow hanging out on the lip for a while. Congratulation Kazu Kokubo1, it was wild to see you live. (photo: Blotto)
